as you might have followed - i got my E-410 about 2 months ago, and now we already have E-420 in store with some improvements. Yesterday, the much speculated E-520 was released! and now i must say the E-520 is really worth while to be looked into. With in body IS, and pretty compact size plus well-set price, i wonder how many people who have waited for it will shout and cheer now...

With this trend you can expect that Nikon will soon release something with live-view, and many other brands will also continue pushing some Mega Pixels and features into their non-pro products. I do notice more and more people own DSLR now. I believe first is the price - they are not *that* expensive, as compared to some good compacts. The picture quality is unbeatable, provided if you know how to use it. Portability is not really an issue, since some product lines are aiming at smaller or lighter or carry-able :)

If you ask me whether or not to go for the E-520, i don't have a perfect answer for you. I think if you budget permits, by all means go for it. Else i might perhaps ask whether are the extra features from E-410/E-420 needed.  It is about 100Euro/500RM different, as far as i know. If you really need something with in body image stabilization,  i think the E-510 will offer the best bargain in town in coming months. I do find the E-4x0 offers a neat format - compact and small, and easy to carry around. The E-5x0 is not really that much bigger (so are the Canon 400D/450D without battery grip) but still takes up a little more place :) i am now pretty comfortable with the size, so i think it was one of the main reason why i did not go for the E-510 earlier, besides the 100+Euro difference. 

If you can wait, take a deep breath and wait til more reviews and tests are out then make the decision. For me, though tempted, i will just enjoy the E-410 until later where i can find a nice reason/excuse to get an E-530 :) he he, in 2 years' time?

perhaps then it is time to plunge into getting an E-3? LOL ;)
