well deserved break

inspired by my remaining annual leaves, i  decided to write the following:

we are born to be working machine, whether you want it or not. You might not be a workaholic, but you can push yourself to the max if you want/need to. I am impressed with our endurance: you never know your limit until you push it.

that's perhaps why some of us get the chance to experience burn-outs :) you pushed yourself long enough until a day where you body and soul say "neeeehhh, no more pleeeeaaassssss", and mogok[1]. It is not a nice thing, especially when you still have piles of documents or codes to be finished up! but what to do? when body say stop, even if the spirit is willing, you just cannot budge it anymore. time to take a break.

no no, it is not about me being burnt-out now. i am still fine (thank God!). But i do observe that we are usually not so careful with managing our time and limits. But if you are careful enough, you should sense when you should put a comma in between your busyness. They are obvious usually, to give you timely signals.

from experience i do learn one thing: we all grow old. And therefore it is not surprising that you can no longer stay up so long at night and yet  can beat a tiger[2] the next morning. We all have more responsibilities and worries. Things are accumulated since day 1 you get your first entry of worry in your memory. They are all burden, believe it or not. Usually after you get over it, they are lifted up from you. But when the addition comes faster then removal, soon you will be overwhelmed.

That's why i start to believe a well deserved break is necessary. Nothing beats that. Of course, different people carry out their breaks differently. One might go to sandy beach and enjoy cocktail plus suntan, while the other stays at home and chunk up codes for his personal hobby project. Important is: do something that remove stress and burden, instead of adding them.

well, now i have all the good reason to enjoy my annual leave. have quite a lot to use up before they expire :) Next to take care of: money in bank :) let's what would come up within the next 2 months then :)

notes:
[1] mogok: [malay] protest and stop working.
[2] beat a tiger: [cantonese] a way to say that one is still strong and kicking, even to the extend of being able to kill a tiger :P
