after a long time, it is time to make a decision...
to start and restart...
An attempt discriminates! or not?
Just a quick post - below is a video i have captured to show how it works under my EeePC 901. It is just a minute long, including booting up (about 10-15 seconds) and starting Firefox (about 10 sec?).
Just a short question for those who frequently searched for similar topics and ended up here - should i make an update write up specifically on this topic, especially when i now have access to several Nseries phones (am using a N95 8GB for my experiments and measurements, plus perhaps another few more S60 3rd / 5th Edition phones on loan when i have the time)?
so far i only have one problem after upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex - my VPN via pptp stopped working. It is actually a known issue since months, but so far only tweaks and hacks available from many people. Ubuntu has not released any patch for pptp/Network Manager... funny, but i have no idea why.
i last wrote about finding some FOSS tools that i find nice, but since a few weeks ago i have decided to also take on a few more to use them to help me in my daily work. I have read David Allen's Getting Things Done long ago, but i have not really put things into practice. So first step is to organize things right. Been writing down tasks on paper for a while, and that really help to give me an overview on things i must complete within the indicated deadlines. With computer we can do that long ago :) well, as i have learn it the (hard) way, it is the discipline that ensures the success.
this is of course not 100% new thing. I am as usually a little slow, but i am glad i keep finding new and useful things available for Linux and FOSS.
a plan is made - next to be accomplished - a flickr-like drupal based gallery setup. no more bridging between different systems. I believe what drupal offers today is enough to make a simple web photo gallery. Only question is - how?
Angie from Lullabot made a very good tutorial on creating a flickr like drupal web gallery. It was then 2006, and we only had 4.6 then. Today we have drupal 6.4 - can we do better?
Dear Internet,
i just wonder, if your notebook can adapt its settings according to the environment you are current in, what are things you wish to see or have? At this point we can at least get the best connection (via NetworkManager) and perhaps best display (via xrandr/xorg), but most of the time we still need to configure a little here and there. Is it necessary to have an "intelligent system" that knows what it should serve you according to your current situation? Or the system should always be passive?
it turns out the installation of canola 2 wasn't as easy as i thought. i started today with clonning of the os to the sd card, and despite the troubles with repository for efs2progs and wget, i managed to things done within an hour. perhaps i have done that many times, and i know where i can find info fast.
It's finally weekend, and i have decided to take an hour out, to play with the OS2008 on N800. it is already a week since an official beta was released, but i have been considering hard whether to do it or not. Guess now you get the answer already ;)
