This post is just as a quicky - as i should slowly "re-"kickstart the almost idle blog - lately there had been some new gadgets coming in - since end of last year I got my first taste of Android phone and since a few weeks I've got from the department the Samsung Galaxy S2 for further experiments and tests. As i have told people - this phone is finally what i call a good and usable Android phone. It is speedy, extremely light and the screen is beautiful.
Just a quick post - below is a video i have captured to show how it works under my EeePC 901. It is just a minute long, including booting up (about 10-15 seconds) and starting Firefox (about 10 sec?).
a couple of weeks ago Xandros released the news that they are also into an "instant on" OS for netbooks. So i signed up for the beta, and a few days after the announced release date (well, i actually forgot about the sign up too :P) i got a mail to invite me to download it. It is actually available for everyone at download.com or tucows...
hmm. the year started well actually. So well, that i no longer feel like writing stuffs anymore :) Naw, it is just perhaps lack of ideas that can take up more than 100 words... so i think i will just quickly summarize some of the events/incidents since last update...
as compared to the Eee PC 701, the 901 is not really that much bigger. However the real estate of the screen makes really quite some differences. For people who only need to occasionally view pictures, videos and web sites i think the 701 will do the job well. But if you plan to work on it, e.g documents or presentations, you will really appreciate the 8.9" screen with the rather now-standard 1024x600 resolution.
if you are following the press conference of T-mobile, Google and htc now, you are definitely aware of the development of mobile internet experience. The press conference is still on at this time at here.
a plan is made - next to be accomplished - a flickr-like drupal based gallery setup. no more bridging between different systems. I believe what drupal offers today is enough to make a simple web photo gallery. Only question is - how?
Angie from Lullabot made a very good tutorial on creating a flickr like drupal web gallery. It was then 2006, and we only had 4.6 then. Today we have drupal 6.4 - can we do better?
right after i jotted down my thoughts, partly because Dan is following up with today's announcement from Nokia, we now have some pretty good news (at least for me). Ari Jaaksi made some announcement and it looks like the Internet Tablet's successor will be further "pimped" with goodies the community has been requesting (at least some).
been a while i follow up with the development of the Nokia Internet Tablets (770, n800 and n810). Not that i don't care about it anymore, but it seemed such units are more like toys to geeks then something that really help us in our daily lives. Ok, until n810, the rest are really nice as proof of concepts that show what potential such units can have. The n810 is the first one that i finally say "wow, now i can do more on a mobile unit than any other". But that was also almost a year ago.
as mentioned earlier, the pancake finally arrived, on time before we set off for Hannover :)
Attaching it to the camera, the already small E-410 looks smaller and more compact:)
