sweet memories on St. Nicholas day.

It was the St. Nicholas day here in Germany yesterday. It is a traditinoal day where children will get their gifts or sweets (put in their boots), and some believe that St. Nicholas is the traditional Santa Claus. Even adults will buy simple small gifts to give to each other to share joy and love. In the university canteen we usually get special menu - for example, yesterday i had one of the best roast duck ever in the university. they should do this more often. LOL :)

During choir we also had not just practice, but a simple gift exchange plus Glühwein drinking. I enjoy the company of the nice people in the choir - it is not just a group of people willing to sing, but a little nice family sharing and treasuring moments and joy and pain together. Glad to be part of it, while being able to know each other better day by day. We are now short of time preparing for our christmas concert, which takes place on the 24th December. If you have time, do drop by (contact me for more information).

Talking about St. Nicholas day, we also took part in a little contest organized by the diving school here in Kassel. And it turned out we won it and we got this nice neoprene socks filled with goodies :)

the best part is: on my way home with the socks in my hand, i walked past some kids. They must have saw me with my gift filled with chocolate, and was wondering whether have they seen the wrong thing - an adult with sweets competiting the kids? I remember overhearing one of they whispered to the other "I told you so! he has it too!".

boy that was embarassing yet hilarious ;)
