Maemo Live Images
if you dislike messing up your stuffs on your fav workstation, check out the Maemo SDK Appliances . There are both VMWare and QEmu variants available, so you can just decide on your favourite/preferred type. Once started, do play around with it.

Google vs Yahoo
nothing new, people keep comparing them. But this article pointed out some truths:

"Yahoo is a jack of all trades - a communication medium, aggregator and
distributor of news and entertainment - and it has not mastered many of
them, Weiner said. "Yahoo is attempting to become a broadcasting
platform, creating original content, cutting deals with film studios
and TV networks," he said. "None of that has really panned out."

good reminder to all of us who are at times over-ambitious - we have to be on the ground instead of wishing too much. Concerntrate, don't reinvent the wheel and keep up the persistance.  

Say NO to the Microsoft Office format as an ISO standard
No, before you start flaming me, it is not about bashing Microsoft. Many times i have already explained, that i am not against Microsoft and its products, though i don't encourage using them and use them myself. But when it comes to proposing a standard, and yet fail to provide neutrality in the proposal, i will not agree with such moves. I believe a standard is something opened and available to every potential adaptor and user. If you stack something in that will profit your own products, and sell it as a standard, it will bring doubts and worries - furthermore there are already open document standards that can be used instead of something that conflicts with other standards!
