This post is just as a quicky - as i should slowly "re-"kickstart the almost idle blog - lately there had been some new gadgets coming in - since end of last year I got my first taste of Android phone and since a few weeks I've got from the department the Samsung Galaxy S2 for further experiments and tests. As i have told people - this phone is finally what i call a good and usable Android phone. It is speedy, extremely light and the screen is beautiful. I cannot really compare it to an iPhone 4, but nevertheless coming from almost only Symbian/Nokia background for years, i noticed there is large differences from the latter, and how far behind Nokia Symbian phones had been. Meego should give Nokia some hope to return to the main arena, but would it be too late?
Since a few months i have also been using this nice logitech bluetooth mouse along with an apple-ish Cherry keyboard at work. I started to feel in order to have more effective work, good peripherals are definitely needed. They do not need to be expensive, but they must fit into the needs and requirements. So far i do find both are good upgrades to what i had earlier. The STRAIT keyboard had one issue though - the non-standardized placements of keys such as Home, Insert, Delete etc. are rather confusing for me, since when i change desktop from office to home i need to readjust to another keyboard layout. But as flexible as we human should be, this is seen as a small issue.
Wifey's trusty T41 had been making some issues lately - system had slowed down and mouse has been acting up. So we decided to get a new one - and the new Lenovo Edge E325 with AMD E-350 Brazo APU should be in soon. I am pretty excited with this unit, and hope that Ubuntu will play well with the rather new hardware platform too. Shall report when i manage to give some time for the installation and configuration.
Software-wise, I have made some minor adjustments in order to increase productivity. Been relying more and more on Google calendar and gmail since i am using an Android-based phone. And with such a smartphone, I also used some nice services such as Evernote and Do-It (Tomorrow) to keep things synced with my desktop applications. Have recently discovered Whatsapp, and think it is a handy app to replace SMS - as long as all correspondents have the same app. I, however, think there is no need to fill up the phone with lots and lots of app - you only need some that are really useful, instead of having "multitudes" of apps that you only use once a while... one exception will be games :)
Shall find time to slowly share details of the above stuffs, and perhaps this is how the blog will be resumed... in near future.
