Summary:
The paper presents MPTrain, a mobile phone based system that uses music to assist in users' exercise activities. With sensors attached to body, and sensor data being received on a mobile phone, suitable types of music would be chosen and played in order to encourage users to change their exercise method/approach/speed. The preliminary tests and results are done with jogging as selected sport exercise.

There are some open issues:

  1. enrich user's model with past user history.
  2. incorporating new musical features to the music selection algorithmn
  3. speed and volume can be modified during playback (why speed??)
  4. incorporation of more context information - GPS, body and external temperature, barometric pressure and etc...
  5. context sharing with friends and family.
  6. different user interface for rating, review and trend identification and deviations.

note to self: some of these are already realised in some current work.
