ages ago i wrote about meebo before. It was around the time it just started off. Feedback was great. i can do my messenger task without my daily messengers. I use many of them... yahoo, msn, google, jabber, even now i have skype and gizmo. yeah, not really neat when you see multiple software start as soon as you login, right? that is also a reason why i use Pidgin (still Gaim on Ubuntu Feisty) as my default IM client. At least i have almost all accounts there, minus some eye-candies and features i can live without.
but as soon as it comes to a proxied or firewalled environment, it will not work. This is the case now as i am typing this. So i thought why not just give meebo a try, again. i used that in cyber cafe once, since i did not want to leave my login infos on the machine itself, and thought meebo will do the job. it worked out well. The latest versions provides very nice interface, and ajax makes things really work well even though it is running off a web browser. Speed wise i believe you will not feel much difference from a real client.
Chat features are rather ok. You can chat (duh!), and also check your chat log. Group chat is also supported, so i assume those who loves conference chat will not miss it using meebo. Within meebo you can even create meebo chatrooms. So it will work out like irc chat i assume. Other than that you only need one meebo login to manage all your IM accounts. If you can trust them, you should not need to login multiple times when you use meebo. I believe to a certain extend that might worry some of us, since we are giving out our passwords :) But i think you should also practice not to use important passwords for such services :) keep them to important accounts only.
so much for a lame review on meebo, go try it now.
