time is fair to everyone - we have have same amount of time, not more or less. But how well can time work with us, that is another issue. Most of the time, we have more things to do than the time we have. I realise the problem lies not at the amount of work we have (unless you are really bad in saying no to new tasks) but a matter of how we prioritize and plan our usage of time. Besides cutting down different things that waste time, you and i can also think of ways to maximize time.
I have no great sharing or experience in time maximizing. But i do want to learn this. One thing i started doing is to keep things a little more organized than before. In this way, i can at least find them faster when i need them, and i can get rid of things that i don't really need them - like if i don't miss a certain thing after some time, i probably don't need it too. This trick is really good in helping me to clean up the desktop of my main screen on my workstation, and also my home directory. If you really want professional help, perhaps you can check out some self-management books like GTD book from David Allen (which i have not finished reading it after erm, years? :P). But at the end of the day, all you need is discipline. Keep to a plan you have made, and make sure you do it until you get the results you expected.
So what does this has to do with podcast? well, actually nothing :) But i started also organize and read/listen blogs and podcast using dedicated software instead of reading them randomly. I realise in this way i can at least keep track of things i have read/listened, and i also learnt that it is really ok to miss some of these contents - they are for knowledge and leasure. Skipping some tech news will not affect my life that much anyway (and it would probably save me from not thinking of buying another new gadget!).
While i am still trying and learning how, i started looking for podcast clients. I actually think the ultimate client should support a mobile unit such as a mobile phone, mp3 player or a tablet. I have not started searching in the wild, but while checking through the application lists on the N800, i found gpodder with updates ready. Installation was easy, and it works pretty neat and well too. At no time i have already started downloading latest podcasts from some common sites i have interests in. Next i installed it on my workstation too. Now my next challenge is to synchronize the downloaded podcast on both machines... i wonder if that is possible :)
but until then i have already something that works as i hope. Perhaps i will not really use the two units as main client - too confusing i must say. I will make more changes once i figure out how i can also use a mobile as playback device - ogg enabled music player and podcast playback with ad2p support will be neat. So far a rather cheap and good device is inviting me - the Nokia E51... let's see how long can i resist the temptation (almost bought it at ebay today.... :D).
