was browsing some tv shows and saw 2 different programs showing something in common - two groups of young teenagers doing different things. The first group was a dance group, and it was a show talking about a young guy having the Xeroderma pigmentosum syndrom. The dance group is the only contact this young guy had, since his desease does not really allow him to have many contacts with others. But what so special with this group is that they do care about the young guy. They often practice their dance moves and perform at streets to collect donation for their friend. From the look of them, you might think they are just normal youngsters. But with what they are commited to do for someone, i think they know what they can achieve and will go all out for it.
The second group was a contrast to them. Although not all of them are the same, but it was a group of teenagers invited to try out village life and they are suppose to make their own money to support themselves. Besides a few that are hardworking, the others are more towards having fun and don't really care about helping each other in the house. For example, not willing to wake up early to help out with house work, or skipping work because "no interest". One of them even said that she only needs to sneeze a little, and her mother will quickly bring her back to her room to make sure she is ok. I was like "what?"...
after some thoughts about these groups, i think it is not a matter that the teenagers are not willing to do things (right). It is not that they do not know what is good or bad. It is more likely that they choose to take life easy, and do not really want to use hardship to earn what they should earn. It is a choice made due to the environment they are in, where perhaps responsibilities and foresight are not really important anymore. They choose to careless, and be self-centered. How to justify this? try explaning facts and things to them, and they will just reject them as long as these facts do not suit them. It is no longer about learning the right thing - it is to only do things they see fit.
How do you judge your own decisions? how do you make up your choices, and know you won't regret doing so even after years? We need to humble ourselves and learn the truth, so that we have the ultimate truth to guide us. We ourselves are no longer capable to tell right from wrong, unless someone can tell us that.
