I remember how a friend actually recommended my wife life insurance... she actually bought it for her before wifey gave her the money. The reason, not because the friend is selling it, but because she felt it is so important that we should not delay. When you know this is well-meant by a friend, you know it is not just a product - it is something one can use at the times of need, and that is what insurance is for - help at times of need.

There are all kinds of insurance out there - home insurance, health insurance, car insurance and etc. You will felt overwhelmed just by looking at the variety - and more when you compare with more offers from different companies. Like i have mentioned before, they are good as long as they are being offered by a respectable company. When you have a good agent handling it for you (like our dear friend) you are in good hands. Imagine when something happens, you will need to know the details how to make claims or to get what you have been insured with - the agent will be the one who should give you assistance. Else you might end up not knowing what to do... and mind you, some companies are profit-oriented - instead of customer oriented - and you might have a hard time dealing with them when you do it alone.

In the Internet you can also find good pool of resource - articles and news
- on the issue of insurance. You can use them as references, especially when you need to compare different offers, or to check out reputation of certain company. Of course you should not believe everything you find - use your wisdom to compare them, and ask people for their opinion before you make any decision. 

I ain't no expert in this field, but throughout the years here i find for instance health insurance very useful. It is not about the cost itself, but the convenience and benefits i enjoy from having one. And i hope back home things will move towards this direction too...
