Headache on birthday gifts?

whenever a birthday is coming near, i think we all might get anxious - not because you need to fork out money for a gift, but to decide which gift is  best for the Sau Sing - 寿星 (birthday boy/girl). At least this is the problem i face from time to time. Solution? well, it is part of the fun i must say :) but there are enough places to get nice and not necessarily expensive gifts. Here i even get nice stuffs from Amazon to Ebay or perhaps online Birthday Gifts sites to find suitable gifts.

Talk about this site, even though it looks simple, but i think it has really comprehensive lists of gifts for many ocassions. It offers wide range of gifts, from cards to wine, from teddy bear to a star (yeah, apparently you can name a star after someone), and even a nice outdoor trip can be ordered from the site. The prices of the gifts are ok, especially if you are from UK or perhaps Europe. It targets its potential customers from the UK region which i believe are going to consider its offers well.

back to the topic, if you are tired of this, perhaps i have some suggestions -

1. Try to arrange a makan party - we asian like to eat, makan sure can be considered as a good gift one.

2. Get the whole group of friends to agree on no gifts. Sounded funny, but i believe friends will not insist on some gifts. Furthermore, so many ocasions, if every event also give gifts, perhaps already pokai loh :)

3. instead of no gift, how about only 1 gift per year? all the RM10 RM50 per ocasion put together perhaps already a few hundred loh, wow, the gift sure heavy enough now.

4. make something yourself. A unique bookmark, drawing, knitting, or sculpture - yes, you need to be creative a little, but it sure will be something money cannot buy. Nowadays even making a website or a special webpage can be a nice gift, right? :)

At the end of the day, it is the thought that counts, right? all the best in solving your birthday gifts headaches ;)

online shopping from Malaysia

Just one thing I'd like to add:
Sometimes overseas online shops will not ship to Malaysia.
So, when shopping online for something that I can't get from Malaysian online retailers, I use this directory:
http://www.intletail.com/malaysia

It lists only online shops that actually do ship goods to Malaysia.
I highly recommend it.
