Easter for you and me

even though this might be a little late (at home it is already afternoon :) ), but after reading the post from Susan, i think i wish to also take this chance to tell all the visitors something about Easter...

Today is Easter, and i believe many places in this world celebrates together the day... To many, it is the most important Christian event. That means, Christmas is not as "big" as Easter, actually. The reason is - without the death and resurrection of Jesus two thousand plus years ago, there would be no need of christianity at all. We are called christians today, because the one whom everyone forgot during Christmas had gave up His life on the rugged cross, and rose from the dead three days later.

The common symbol for Easter is the easter egg. It represents new life, which is the result of the resurrection of Jesus. Christians believe that we can be saved from sin and be reconciled with God because Jesus had died for our sins (therefore Good Friday), and had victory over death because he was resurrection on Easter day.

Many symbols and traditions (such as Easter eggs and Easter bunnies) are of course not directly something taken from the bible, but some are practiced because of their representations that link back to the real meaning of Easter. I always believe in knowing why we do something, and not because we are asked to do them. If you are unsure whether what you do is right or not, check it out in the Bible and ask your Pastors or Elders - they should know the answers.

Wish you all a blessed Easter, and again, Hallelujah because our Saviour rose from the dead for you and me.
