remember i tried to get the maemo system running from a SD card. latest update, my rather new SanDisk 2GB SD card is somehow since last friday broken. Broken means i cannot repair or repartition it. I have no idea. I remember the system crashed once badly, and right after that i repartitioned it and formated it with ext3. After that it went on well, and suddenly last friday it crashed again (battery somehow went flat, me bad). But after recharging it, i realise the SD card partition was corrupted. After numerous repartition i gave up and decided to put it aside until i have a real external card reader. Doing it via N800 is not really that nice.
now i confirm i need to send the SD card back to Amazon. i believe it is not the boot process nor the N800 that destroys the card. if yes, wearing out a SD card within a month is really not a good sign. More updates when i get my replacement card later. Now, running from SD card using the department's MMC card... gonna do a little bit more tests on it until i get the student testing out java on it.
Did use the unit during our little weekend breakaway. It proved to be a nice tablet to be used together with available connectivity. I pop it out whenever i need to check out some place of interest in Leipzig, and also to check train/tram schedules. Only woe is - i manage to use the wrong connection which will charge me at normal rate instead of the 200MB package i subscribed to. Now my bill is going to bite me this month... hope it is not too much. Not so much email, since i am suppose to enjoy my holiday instead of reading mails. Wifey will get jealous if i stick to the Internet too much. hmm. :)
