hmm.
got a call yesterday that i could not answer on time, and guessed it has to be from the service provider 1und1 (1&1) in Germany. I somehow wanted to confirm this and tried to google for it - guess what, i came accross this website: who calls me.
Just a quick post - below is a video i have captured to show how it works under my EeePC 901. It is just a minute long, including booting up (about 10-15 seconds) and starting Firefox (about 10 sec?).
hmm. the year started well actually. So well, that i no longer feel like writing stuffs anymore :) Naw, it is just perhaps lack of ideas that can take up more than 100 words... so i think i will just quickly summarize some of the events/incidents since last update...
time is fair to everyone - we have have same amount of time, not more or less. But how well can time work with us, that is another issue. Most of the time, we have more things to do than the time we have. I realise the problem lies not at the amount of work we have (unless you are really bad in saying no to new tasks) but a matter of how we prioritize and plan our usage of time. Besides cutting down different things that waste time, you and i can also think of ways to maximize time.
i last wrote about finding some FOSS tools that i find nice, but since a few weeks ago i have decided to also take on a few more to use them to help me in my daily work. I have read David Allen's Getting Things Done long ago, but i have not really put things into practice. So first step is to organize things right. Been writing down tasks on paper for a while, and that really help to give me an overview on things i must complete within the indicated deadlines. With computer we can do that long ago :) well, as i have learn it the (hard) way, it is the discipline that ensures the success.
was browsing some tv shows and saw 2 different programs showing something in common - two groups of young teenagers doing different things. The first group was a dance group, and it was a show talking about a young guy having the Xeroderma pigmentosum syndrom. The dance group is the only contact this young guy had, since his desease does not really allow him to have many contacts with others. But what so special with this group is that they do care about the young guy.
while chatting with a friend, we talked about fears in things that will happen in life and how it can haunt us. I suddenly had this thought - when we think about fear, it is usually about things that is not even there yet. If something you fear becomes true, i doubt you should be afraid of it then. It is then called a fact, something you have to face and move on.
I admit it - i have no patience and i want things fast. It is 6 days from the release of Ubuntu Intrepid Ibix. So i waited until today where the RC is released, and i made an dist-upgrade. Note that you need really at least 1.6G if you want to go the "update-manager -d" way. i somehow could not squeeze out that much space, so i burnt the RC iso in to CD, and went the CD way. It is pretty simple - insert cd, and click on upgrade.
this is of course not 100% new thing. I am as usually a little slow, but i am glad i keep finding new and useful things available for Linux and FOSS.
