been a while i saw ants here, but i do remember growing up with ants almost everywhere. If you manage to leave a drop of sweetened water somewhere, in no time you will see the little things rushing over. Wonder what is so interesting about that drop of sugar :)

I do recall there is a specific type called fire ants - they are different. NOt because they don't like sweet stuffs, but their bites are unforgettable. Once bitten you will see swells and bumps forming. If got bitten by one, i think you can still put some cream on it and get over it. BUt imagine stepping into the wrong place, you might get hundreds of them rushing at you. That is no fun! 

I come across a site call Controlfireants.com. It has quite some informative links to things you can learn about fire ants and ways to handle incidents dealing with them. I would say reading up does really help. it prepares you with the necessary information so that you can take the best steps when you encounter fire ants, especially when unexpectedly. 

I would not forgot the time i got bitten - itchy, pain and the bump stayed for a while. Glad i don't get that everyday :P
